Ardens-QMasters is run by two Oxfordshire GPs, Dr Miles Carter and Dr Merlin Dunlop, who between them have over 25 years of experience working in NHS Primary Care. Throughout this time they have closely followed developments in information technology and have ensured their practices are using the advanced features of their IT systems to improve data quality, save time, and improve clinical safety.
Having migrated to EMIS Web in 2010, and with the help of their extensive experience in IT, they quickly began to realise not only the power of the system to improve the quality of patient care, but also its ability to be customised to allow innovative solutions to be developed to help clinicians and other practice staff optimise their workflow.
After spending many hours customising EMIS Web for their practices and observing the reduction in workload, improvement in the quality of the data within clinical records, and reduction in the number of clinical safety errors that were being made it became clear that other practices may not have the time or specialist IT knowledge to adapt their clinical system in the same way and so QOF Masters was launched to address this need. The business changed its name to QMasters in 2016 to reflect its focus on improving Quality in Primary Care.
In April 2019 QMasters merged with an organisation called Ardens that offers a similar solution for SystmOne. QMasters is being rebranded as Ardens for EMIS Web and we are now able to offer a single solution that works on both EMIS Web and SystmOne.
Ardens-QMasters also offer a specialist IT consultancy service focussing on delivering bespoke solutions for EMIS Web practices through better use of technology. Further information can be found by visiting their consultancy services page.

Dr Charlotte Newbery
Business Manager
Charlotte is our Business Manager who we rely upon to manage our own internal IT systems and all of our staff. She is also responsible for staff training and development.
Her background as a medical doctor gives her a good understanding of how Ardens needs to operate in order to maintain our high level of customer service.

Dr Simon Sherwin
Template Architect and Clinical Lead for Locally Commissioned Services
Simon is a GP Partner in the New Forest and designs content for Ardens Pro when he is not working as a GP. He is particularly interested in developing solutions to make it easier for clinicians to use EMIS Web's functionality to more easily achieve Locally Commissioned Services requirements.
Simon has extensive experience in Primary Care IT and has worked with the PCT IT strategic committee and as a Director of IT for his local federation.

Maggie Lay
Clinical Safety and Quality Assurance
Maggie is a registered nurse with significant experience in project management and change management. More recently, she has been involved in digital transformation projects for the NHS and has particular expertise in risk analysis, clinical safety assurance and information governance.
Maggie is part of our quality assurance team and is an accredited clinical safety officer.

Charmaine has a background in training across a broad range of IT systems. She is an accredited trainer for both EMIS Web and SystmOne clinical systems. She also specialises in the improvement of data quality in healthcare systems.

Vicky Moore
Document Management and QOF Data Validation Team
Vicky joined the QMasters team at the end of 2017. She brings valuable experience in business administration and strong IT skills through her previous roles working as a PA in the House of Lords and a large London law firm.
Vicky is involved in the production of the reports we provide to QToolset subscribers and converting referral forms to EMIS Web format.

Nila Sandvik
QOF Data Validation Team
Nila joined the QMasters team in 2018 and has a strong science and analytical background with a BSc in Physiology and Pharmacology and an MSc in Engineering from Imperial College, London.
