QOF data validation service
Coding errors are probably losing GP practices thousands of pounds in unclaimed income each year. This is because there is one national "pot" of money for QOF which is distributed amongst GP practices based on their prevalence of chronic disease. Practices with a higher disease prevalence get paid more than those with a lower disease prevalence even if they achieve the same number of QOF points. If you are not correctly coding diagnoses in EMIS Web and actively checking for coding errors throughout the year you will be missing income for work that you are already doing.
CCGs rely on high quality coded clinical data to ensure resources are made available to them from NHS England. If their member practices are not coding long-term condition diagnoses correctly the burden of chronic disease in the CCG will be under-reported and national funding allocations may be directed to areas with a higher prevalence of chronic disease.
Our Data Validation service will identify historical coding errors that are affecting your practice prevalence of chronic disease, and therefore the value of your QOF points. With QOF income continuing to fall it is becoming increasingly important to ensure that you are being correctly paid for the QOF work that you are already doing. We have spent many years writing and improving a large collection of complex searches that currently identify coding errors worth an average of £1,000 per 1,000 registered patients.

Our QOF Data Validation Summary Report is free of charge. The Summary Report will identify the amount of income your practice is losing due to incorrect or absent coding.
The cost for our Detailed Data Validation Report is 35% of the income the practice will generate from adding/correcting these codes, up to a maximum of £995. There is no obligation to purchase this report. |
Our Summary Report offers an overview of the number of patients with coding errors and their value in terms of unclaimed QOF income.
Our Detailed Report contains EMIS ID, Usual GP, and the clinical code that needs adding/changing for each individual patient. It includes instructions explaining how to easily replace the incorrect clinical code with the correct one. |
We have spent many hours refining our searches to ensure they correctly identify nearly all of the coding errors within a practice population whilst avoiding false-positive results which are time-consuming for clinicians to review.
We are so confident that our data is accurate that we offer a guarantee with our Detailed Report and will refund the value of any incorrect data we have identified. |
"Thank you for your Data Validation Report which we are really impressed with and shows an impressive grasp of the QOF rules and coding. We found it extremely useful and it has also highlighted areas where we can develop hints and tips for GPs and our coding staff. We were pleased you honoured your guarantee promptly without fuss in respect of the few patients who genuinely could not be added to the register".
Dr Arun Aggarwal - GP. Rainbow Surgery, Cambridgeshire. Speaker on Data Quality issues at EMIS conferences
"I've been working through the data in your Data Validation Report this afternoon and in Osteoporosis I have identified at least 30 patients so far so well worth it for that alone."
Dr Helena Ebbs - GP. Pickering Medical Practice, North Yorkshire
"Thanks for the Detailed Data Validation Report. Some startling results! Very useful."
